A place to find any route alternatives that people can provide:

Cycle Leg 8 to 9 - Manning Road onto Canning Road (discussed at meeting - provided by Michael Vujcich)
To elaborate further on the alternative to spending 50m on the freeway ramp to get from Manning Road to Canning Hwy Bridge:
The way to avoid this is to turn left at Lockhart, right at Gentilli way and over the horseshoe bridge to the shared path.

Cycle Leg 8 to 9 - Route 1 to avoid Albany Highway (by Michael Parrotte)

Last year Michael found this the most dangerous part of the route as there is no shoulder and plenty of traffic.

On Albany Highway turn left, at the BP, onto Short Street. Then right into Woodloes St, left into Marrianup St and jump onto the bike path that goes through the park ending up at Fleming Av which is followed to Manning Road. Even if you get lost on the bike path the route to Kent Street is signposted so you can always take Kent Street to Fleming Street.

The other suggested route is using Roe Highway. Apparently Roe Highway has a brand new, very good bike path. To get to it on the Kenwick link go over Roe Highway and join the bike path on the West side of Roe. You then follow the Roe bike path to the freeway bike path and cycle to Canning Highway. This route is longer however is all on bike paths and avoids the busy Albany Highway and Manning Roads and doesn’t have any traffic lights.  I have not cycled this route.

The route that seems the simplest and quicket eg less traffic is Maddington rd, left onto kelvin rd, right onto railway cycle path continue on path to Kenwick station, follow road over overpass and onto Railway Parade over Brixton and past Beckenham, Cannington and Queens Park Stations. Turn left onto Hamilton then cross Albany Hwy follow road on for 50m turn right onto Manning Rd rest of the way to Canning Hwy.

Also, for those interested, the most difficult piece of bike navigation appears to be from the Truth to the Quadcruncher at Orange Grove. In Saturday's sneak peek, we cycled down to the end of Campersic, right into Toodyay Rd, left onto Roe Hwy, right into Gt Eastern Hwy then first left into Robinson Rd, Right Clayton, left Military Rd.

A couple of kms down Military there are a pile of sea containers in your right hand side. This is the point at which Military nearly joins Roe Hwy. You can walk your bike on to Roe Hwy and then head South. Some will head through Kalamunda Rd, Hawtin, Lewis, etc but we found it easiest to just turn left from Roe Hwy on to Tonkin Hwy then left Kelvin, right White, left Hardinge. Also, there's a decent 'little' hill to actually get to the Bickley carpark just past the recreation camp.

On the way to joining on to Albany Hwy after this challenge, stay on Hardinge which becomes Maddington, left into Kelvin Rd and right on to Albany Hwy (remembering to veer left on to Kenwick Link as part of your trip along Albany Hwy), left into Manning Rd then the Canning Bridge rowing shed.
