Apologies this last update has taken so long to eventuate, have been waiting on a long delayed final tally. Hopefully those of you who raised sponsorship for Variety will have received a letter outlining it's use this year.
The Final tally Our grand total for 2010 is $12,299 That is an awesome achievement for a relatively small event so thanks for your efforts, most successful year so far! You can be sure it's much appreciated by the recipients of the Variety grants and their parents/carers.
Special mention In the previous update I neglected to mention a fantastic post-Painathlon effort by Robert Adams who, with a group of runners at the City to Surf, took on the world record for running a marathon in an ambulance suit. Rob and his team of doctors and nurses got alot of media attention and also raised over $10,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation for their unique efforts. Not to mention running a 4:18, well done!!)

A cracking race report If you haven't already read through this years race reports there are some excellent accounts of individuals days (or half days) of Pain. Last to be added was Dave Koopu's quietly hilarious account of his 'devious plan' to beat the Painathlon. Link is http://www.painathlon.com/2010-dave-koopu-solo Definitely worth a read for some comic relief. For all you "sticklers for the rules", be assured it was all done with the best of intentions and not to take away anything from the 'more' serious competitors.

2011 Painathlon Hiatus Since the event and some good Sunday Mail publicity, there's been a steady stream of keen people emailing for details of the 2011 Painathlon. While not a complete impossibility, it's looking very much like Painathlon will take a year off for at least 2011. The main reason being that Team Pain (Jono, Kinga and our daughter Milla) will be heading to Fiji this March for me to undertake a years work at Suva Memorial Hospital. So very sorry to those of you who've pencilled it in for early August but unless we're back early from Fiji or some one/group would like to take on organisation, it won't be a goer.
I'll sign off here, probably for fair while. Thanks again for all your keen support of, and participation in, a pretty unique event. cheers Jono Hague Team Pain
