The TruthHello Painsters (running out of collective nicknames for you all!)

Wow 3 days to go, time flies.  I look foward to seeing everyone on what is usually a chilly start to the day.  Fear not, you'll warm up quick smart once you hit the sand!

Briefing
Thanks to the 27 who attended the briefing session.  I hope it was worthwhile for you and I answered your questions ok.  For the rest the powerpoint is available at www.painathlon.com/resources .  Not quite the same without a voiceover but will give you a feel for the locations and setup.  Apologies if any you went to last years venue thinking it was the same.  The alternative lecture theatre was extremely nice.

Painathlon Caps
65 Painathlon Caps will be available at race rego if you've either ordered/prepaid for or would like to buy one on the spot for $30.  You don't have to have put your name down for one to get one.
There is a facility to Paypal the caps now but currently it includes the 1.50 paypal fee.  I'm trying to get this changed back to $30 but you can always bring cash.

Fundraising shirts collection
Fundraising blue shirts will be available for collection at the recovery party as you probably won't want to lug around extra gear.  However if you've got your $250 either in cash or donated to Variety (i'll have a list from them prior to the event) you're welcome to wear it under the racetop if you feel the need.

Timing system
It's all in place for the Sport Ident timing system.  You will receive a plastic memory chip at race rego and the first time you 'register' it will be exiting the beach run after your 3rd Groyne Lap.  After that there will be an 'IN' and an 'OUT' box for each challenge labelled very clearly and held by a marshall.  DON'T put your chip in the OUT til you've completed the run!  Attached are pics of the chip (which straps to the finger) and a control box.  At Mount St (4) log your chip in before punching your card at the top of your 3rd ascent.  Very important not to lose the chip as we will invoice $100 for any lost/broken ones.
At the finish line, your finish time will be when you log your chip in the FINISH box.  The boxes will beep and flash lights to confirm it's registered.

Weather preparedness
Its looking more and more likely this will be the first rainy Painathlon.  Goes without saying bring appropriate gear if the current forecast holds.  The racetops will go over the top of anything.  Change of socks probably more advisable than ever.  The Quadcruncher creek crossing will be checked on the friday course setup, as will the ascent.

Extra bottles (Full Painathletes)
Remember you can bring extra filled bottles to race rego for pick up at The Truth.

Recovery party
Awesome after a day (or half day) of Pain.  Come along 5.30-8.30pm and get a massage and a feed not 5 mins cycle away from the finish line.  Address is Physiotherapy Solutions, 3rd floor, 31 Outram St, West Perth

We'll attempt to get the results downloaded from the chips and present some small prizes so at the very least you can see what you clocked on which challenge.  Results will naturally be uploaded after the event when I have a moment.

Photos
If you have any supporters who take photos of the event i'd love to put them on the site.  We'll have a volunteer photographer out on course but he can't be everywhere!

Control Cards
Despite the timing chips you WILL still need to punch off at each challenge (either summit or half way point).  The card is your proof of having completed each run in full.  When you cross the finish line and hand in your chip your racecard will be checked by a marshall against the 'master control card'.

I hope you're all really looking forward to the event.  I wish I was out there with you all but i'll be in Support Car 1 backing you all up in case you need it.
