Painathlon grant 2009 PDF Print E-mail
Painathlon 2009 has been a successful exercise again and our final total was $5650 towards Variety WA.

Last friday, just 7 weeks out from the event, I was lucky enough to meet our 'Active'-grant recipient for this year Taishar.

Taishar is 11 years old and was born with a serious spinal deformity.  She now has limited use of her legs and all your hard work and fundraising went towards a fantastic custom ordered bike from the US which she can pedal with her hands.  It is a serious speed machine complete with gears and Taishar was happy to give us a demo.  Taishar's mother Kay told me that before her paraplegia she was a very outdoorsy kid but became very much house-bound.  Since the arrival of the bike, she can cruise the neighbourhood with her friends again and loves it.  I told Taishar all about the Painathlon and also presented her with a cap (which went straight on!) and shirt.

Taishar and Kay want to send a big thankyou to all the Painathlon participants who helped make this possible.

We'll keep you all posted for news of Painathlon 2010 when details are decided.

Other news
  • I have my hands on some mini video-clips from the event which will be up when I can cut it together or youtube it
  • All shirts are gone but still a few Painathlon/Pure Blonde/Brooks caps left for $30 if anyone missed out

many thanks

Post Pain Update 2 - 23/08/09 PDF Print E-mail

Hi Painathletes,

Yes, the updates continue!  Hope you're all feeling better now, I heard there were alot of sore bodies the following week.
Thanks for all your feedback, really helps me get a feel for any problem areas and reassures me that overall things went smoothly.

Services Shield
Sorry I haven't announced this earlier but the Services Shield (highest placed member of any service) was Narciso 'Chiz' Astone representing the Fire Rescue Services.  We've engraved the shield (updated pic is on the results & records page) and will get it to you Chiz for display at your department.  Congratulations and well done mate.  To the right is Chiz arriving at Quadcruncher HQ.

Cycle leg times, results and challenge records
At request i've put up the 9 cycle leg times and rankings on the website results section.
I've also adjusted the challenge splits and overall results to show your actual racetop numbers rather than chip allocation no. (which wouldn't have meant much).  At least Marek wanted to know how various shirt numbers he saw next to him on the day finished up.
Also challenge records are finally updated.
I've attached the results excel file in case any of you are perusing it.

Sponsorship money
Please collect any final remaining funds to be collected and get them to Variety WA so we can get the final tally.

Racecaps
About 45 of the $30 Painathlon caps are gone leaving 20 left.  We have a few people who put their name down for one and haven't yet collected (as far as I know) so if that's you or you've decided you want one, drop a line and i'll sort it.
(Remaining names I have down for one are: Kristian Maliphant, David Croghan, Kerrie Smith, Leah Glass)

Photos
I'm very keen to get ahold of any extra photos any of you have from the day.
On the gallery page i've put together a collection of my favourite photo's and have uploaded about 100 additional pics from Kinga and which are yet to be placed up for display in a gallery (really time consuming sorry it's taking so long!)

Reports
Still happy to put up any race reports from anyone willing to tell their Painathlon story.  Chad, know yours is in the pipeline!

Racetops
Although most have either returned or paid for their racetop quite a few of you still have racetops still pending return or payment.  If you wish to hang on to yours, can you please organise $15 payment as soon as possible (ideally bank transfer as per the payments page on website) .  Otherwise get it back to us so we have less to re-order for next time.

Racetop numbers in question are:
Solo 09,24,27,29
Half 3,4,5,6,7,8,13,14,20
Team 9,10

If you have actually returned or paid but your race no. appears above please let me know.

Poll
Sorry the latest poll I put up is not working for some reason.  I've got my techies working on it and we'll have a new one up soon

Hall of Pain
I'm going to try and establish a part of the website as the 'Hall of Pain'.  Essentially a bio/brief profile of past winners with a few pics.  Stay tuned.  Pictured is 2009 Painathlon Male Champion Cameron Muir finishing off Jacobs.
